Does it really building Asia? Brick by brick or demolition by demolition?
ArtAsiaPacific magazine collaborate with People’s Architecture Foundation held Building Asia Brick by Brick, a workshop that invited renowned Asian and Pacific architects to express their creativity of architectural statement through the medium of custom kits of white LEGO ® bricks. Why a kid’s toy is chosen indeed clear: the selected architects are neither worked by themselves nor hired an expert, but they will co-operate with kids, pretending as a teacher to give them knowledge of how design architecture is. With a good intention program, some of the title still left questions.
Repeat with its Lynn Becker shows his arguments: China is one nation, “where traditional architecture is being wiped out by a building boom unprecedented in world history”. Subjectively, the title is quite incorrect. It seems the event is especially aimed only on China preservation program. If not, why there are only two main collaborator, and it is China based foundation? Visit the blog, and we’ll notice it. Oops, sorry, maybe I just thinked my almost-rotten-and-dumped-from-the-7-ancient-wonders Borobudur Temple. If it seriously for Asia, they should also invite Asia child. I’m sure Asian is contained with Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Japan, Korea, India, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, etc. The ethical code, “Building China Brick by Brick” is the right title.
Anyway, watching AFC Asian Cup 2007 is more Asia. The Cup even including Australia (congrats, you beat Thailand 4-0). Still a good effort to look about architecture that built by LEGO, and stimulate child’s brain growth to its maximum potential through architecture that I really love is better. Keep it up!
